The following is an interview I did for WatchMojo.com. As you may or may not notice, there is a segment where I get slapped in the face with a giant fish. In fact, this clip is so crucial to understanding me as a comedian, a writer, and a human being that in a 3-minute interview, it was shown twice. You see folks, I have only about 2 minutes and 45 seconds worth of interesting things to say, so they needed some filler material to carry us to the 3-minute mark. Believe it or not, I was actually paid to get get bitch slapped by that trout, it was research for an article I was writing for NVI Solutions, the web design and web marketing company who put this sick website together.

Elias does it again!

Joey Elias was his acerbic and improvisational best during his Comedy Night stint at the Chateauguay Legion last Saturday for the benefit of the South-West Dragons girls softball organization. A total of $1,200 was raised, according to Dragons secretary Sandy McLeod.

As usual, there were no sacred cows. Nothing and no one were immune from Elias’ scathing attacks, with his prime targets on this occasion being the Turcotte Yards and stuffy people from England. Very few of his one-liners and anecdotes could be reproduced in a family newspaper, but that’s usually the norm with the King of Comedy.

…Master-of-ceremonies Dan Bingham did a fine job, focusing much of his attention on bees and movies.

The Comedyworks’ Best of Montreal Stand-Up Special gives Just For Laughs a little friendly competition

That the Just For Laughs festival was born and is based here in Montreal (despite its siblings in Toronto, Chicago and Nantes) suggests that Montreal is a comedy town par excellence. Somewhat paradoxically, however, it’s precisely during the massive, career-making festival that many of this town’s best comics get their spotlight usurped by out-of-towners.

The obvious question is why.

“I guess because they see [locals] as just that: local. We’re not exotic,” says comic Dan Bingham, who performed at JFL last year and will be hosting/presenting Eat My Shorts at Comedia, the JFL film festival. “We’re not from Australia or the U.K. or the U.S. - people from Montreal have probably seen us a lot already, so maybe [Just For Laughs doesn't] think people will spend the cash to come see Jeff Schouela or Dan Bingham.”
